We recently had a surprise inspection by Environmental Health, which was highly successful. Barton House Care Home has been awarded the highest Food Hygiene Rating of 5 stars.
From a score of zero to five, food handling businesses are given ratings following an inspection to assess how well they comply with food safety laws. Our kitchen was inspected in terms of cleanliness, with our processes also being checked to ensure we always deliver the required standards.
At Barton, we work extremely hard to provide residents with the best quality food and a varied menu. We use fresh, locally sourced, seasonal produce to offer residents meals that consider their tastes and specific dietary requirements. Every day, we update our menu board with meal options that day, giving our residents a choice.
The Home Manager at Barton House, said, “Receiving a 5-star rating is a great achievement and well deserved as our kitchen team works hard to ensure our residents are well catered for. We are very proud to be recognised for this.”
Key details such as allergies, phobias and weight loss plans are incorporated to ensure the best possible care, with processes in place to prevent cross-contamination. For one resident with food allergies, we have a mood board in the kitchen with everything they can and can’t eat to ensure they are well-catered for.
Barton House’s Chef Angela said, “Our strict cleaning procedures keep the kitchen to a very high standard. To receive an unannounced visit from Environmental Health and a 5-star rating means the world to us.”
At Barton House, we endeavour to provide our residents with the highest standard of care. Our kitchen team strives to be the best they can be, offering our residents hearty, nutritious home cooking.
