Residents from Barton House enjoyed a fantastic trip to Twycross Zoo and it proved to be a day full of discovery, laughter, and special moments. The outing gave everyone the chance to spend time outdoors, see some incredible animals and share the experience together as a group.
The residents loved exploring the different areas of the zoo, from watching playful lemurs leaping across branches to admiring the elegance of giraffes and elephants. The variety of animals sparked plenty of conversations and reminiscence, with many residents recalling family days out or holidays that featured similar experiences.
Trips like this are about so much more than simply enjoying the sights. They support wellbeing in so many ways; fresh air and gentle walking help to keep people active, while the sights and sounds of the zoo provide wonderful sensory stimulation. Just as importantly, these experiences lift spirits, reduce stress, and create opportunities for connection, both with nature and with one another.
The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and moments of joy that residents, staff, and families will remember for a long time. Shared experiences like these highlight the importance of getting out into the community and making space for adventure and fun, no matter our age.
